OK, to set the record straight, the charcoal we’re talking about here isn’t any ordinary old type of charcoal, so don’t start dunking those sooty blocks into your cups or baths.

Instead, we’re talking about a highly prized type of charcoal that’s also known as “Black Diamond”. Derived from buring bamboo at high temperatures, bamboo charcoal can be used in a variety of ways, from home care to personal care.

Called Takesumi or Chikutan in Japanese, bamboo charcoal also has high mineral content such as calcium, potassium, sodium and iron.

The many cavities of bamboo charcoal can attach different substances to their walls, and then release them later. For example, they can absorb moisture from humid air, and then release it during dry conditions. This makes it an excellent humidity regulator.

Bamboo charcoal has other benefits too: it absorbs unpleasant room odours and harmful substances, generates negative ions that will put people in a better frame of mind, and emits far-infrared that helps to improve blood circulation.

For Spa Bath & Shower
Place a bamboo charcoal spa pack in your bath to soften the water by reducing the size of water molecules and absorbing chlorine and other trace elements.

For Bedding
Get a bamboo charcoal support pillow and mattress cushion to promote deeper sleep. Negative ions and far infrared rays emitted will stimulate blood circulation, reduce fatique and improve metabolism.

For Refrigerator
Absorbs unpleasant smell, and helps to maintain the freshness of food by absorbing ethylene gas produced by vegetables and fruits.

For Water Purification & Cooking Rice
If you put 50 to 60 grams of bamboo charcoal in one litre of water, you will increase the mineral content and soften the water, making it excellent for drinking. When cooking with rice, bamboo charcoal will emit infrared rays and release minerals which will provide extra sustenance and additional flavour.

For Fish Tanks
Place some bamboo charcoal pieces in fish tanks to keep the water clean.
